How to use Notedge

A practical guide to saving sources, asking questions, organizing projects, and keeping your library portable.

What Notedge does

Notedge is a personal AI knowledge library. Save a source once, keep the original context, get a summary and key points, then ask questions later when you need the exact answer.

  • YouTube videos become transcript-backed cards with timestamped answers.
  • Documents, PDFs, articles, X posts, links, and notes live beside each other in one searchable library.
  • Every card keeps source context, generated notes, and your own notes together.

Save content

Use New capture from the app sidebar. Pick the source type, paste a URL or upload a document, and Notedge creates a card in your library.

  • YouTube: paste a public YouTube URL. Private, members-only, and unavailable videos are not supported.
  • Documents: upload PDF, DOCX, XLSX, TXT, or Markdown files.
  • Links and notes: save articles, X posts, web pages, or standalone notes.

Ask your saved knowledge

Use Ask on a card for source-specific questions, or Library Chat to search across saved cards. Answers are grounded in saved content and show citations or timestamps when available.

  • For YouTube cards, timestamp chips jump back to the cited moment.
  • For documents, section citations point back to the relevant extracted section.
  • For web and note cards, Ask uses the saved source text and card context instead of guessing from the open internet.

Organize with projects

Projects are lightweight folders for grouping cards. Moving a card changes its project metadata without changing the saved file path.

  • Use Move from card actions to put a card into a project.
  • A card can belong to one project or stay in No project.
  • Project scope is available in Library Chat when you want narrower answers.

Back up your library

Settings includes a full library backup. The backup downloads your active cards as portable Markdown with a manifest and original uploaded files where available.

Delete cards

Delete permanently removes a card, including its saved file and notes. Export important material before deleting because permanent delete is not a recycle bin.

Current beta limits

  • PDF uploads: up to 20 MB or 50 pages.
  • DOCX, TXT, and Markdown uploads: up to 20 MB.
  • XLSX uploads: up to 10 MB, with large spreadsheets reduced into readable sheet sections.
  • For launch, upload only files you trust and have permission to process. Notedge blocks macro-enabled Office files and does not execute uploaded files.
  • AI-heavy usage is subject to fair-use review while Notedge is in early production.
